Morinaga Bifidobacteria | Human Residential Bifidobacteria (HRB)

Morinaga Milk Group was established in year 1917 and celebrated its 100th anniversary last year. Along this 100 years, the Group has produced a wide range of products based on milk, including Morinaga Milk and Morinaga Bifidobacteria.

Bifidobacteria are the predominant beneficial bacteria in human intestinal flora. Newborn infants normally start life free from microbes. By the first week after birth, almost the entire intestinal tract will be inhabited by bifidobacteria. This probiotics population begins a gradual decline when the infant starts weaning, temporarily levels off during adulthood, and then decreases again along old age. Anyhow, Bifidobacteria are a bacterial group that have adapted to survive and live in human intestine, which known as Human Residential Bifidobacteria (HRB).

Changes in Microbiota with Age

Bifidobacteria decrease with aging.

Morinaga Bifidobacterium longum BB536 (Bifilon-50F)

Bifidobacterium longum BB536 or Bifilon-50F is a strain of bifidobacterial living in humans from Morinaga. With the Morinaga Lyophilized Technology, the B. longum BB536 is more heat stable and pH resistant compared to other human strain probiotics. Thus, this bacteria strain can survive and reach the large intestine in viable condition.

Morinaga succeeded to use Bifidobacterium longum BB536 in dairy products in year 1971. This was the first food product that able to use highly sensitive Bifidobacterium longum in Japan. With its many years of availability in the global market and usage in infant formula, nutritional supplements and yogurt, B. longum BB536 has become a strain with global recognition.

  • Human Residential Bifidobacteria (HRB).

  • Morinaga Lyophilized Bifidobacteria.

  • High stability.

  • FDA GRAS certified in USA, 2009.

  • Halal Certified & recognized by JAKIM.

  • Supported by more than 150 scientific evidences as below:

Other Morinaga’s Bifidobacterium Strains with Various Efficacies

  1. Bifidobacterium breve M-16V – Promotes the anti-allergic as well as anti-inflammation properties of infant and toddler by improving the intestinal environment and immusystem.

  2. Bifidobacterium infantis M-63 – Scientific evidences focus on low birth weight infants.

  3. Bifidobacterium breve B-3 – Anti-obesity and anti-metabolic effects by improving human intestinal barrier function.
